In this unusual pairing, master Japanese classical string player Yoko Hiraoka
meets master improviser Mark Miller in a multidimensional exploration of composed pieces
and open improvisation. The duo will play contemporary works for classical Japanese
instruments and improvisations based on Japanese haiku and waka poetry.
Beautiful melodies and unique instrumental blends are a hallmark of their
spontaneous improvisational creations.
